The World Economic Forum has just announced Wilderlands as one of the winners of their “Uplink Top Innovator” award for the global Biodiversity Challenge.

As a World Economic Forum ‘UpLink Top Innovator’, Wilderlands will benefit from a three-year curated Engagement Programme that will open many doors through invitations to high-profile events, global visibility, and access to networks of potential partners, collaborators, and investors.

UpLink, launched in 2020 by the World Economic Forum in collaboration with Deloitte and Salesforce, has built an open innovation platform ecosystem fostering entrepreneurial solutions for global challenges aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Biodiversity Challenge was their most recent competition.

Wilderlands were selected from over 243 applicants across three categories including biodiversity monitoring and measurement, incentivising demand and innovative financing for biodiversity, and strengthening local value chains.

A small number of teams were chosen to take part in an extensive interview process culminating in a pitch to a panel of industry leaders from a range of companies including 1T and Mercuria who partnered to create the challenge.

The successful teams were 3bee, Bioverse, Bondy, Carbon Counts, Conservation X Labs, Gentian Limited, Ground Up Conservation, Huangshan Green Anhui Conservation Centre, Invest Conservation, Mozaic Earth, Nala Earth, Pivotal, Rewild Yunnan, Robotic Cats, Seed Nature, and Soilytix.

Wilderlands now joins a global community of 452 Top Innovators as well as 89 ‘Top Investors’ and 351 ecosystem partners from across the globe, all part of the Uplink ecosystem.

Uplink is designed to help early-stage impact entrepreneurs scale their people-and planet-focused ventures and recently announced that to date they’ve committed over CHF 37 million ($66m AUD) in funding to support these initiatives.

The news couldn’t come at a better time with the United Nations Biodiversity Conference (COP16) only weeks away and Wilderlands planning to attend and meet fellow innovators at this monumental moment in Colombia.

Thankyou to everyone who has supported Wilderlands and joined our mission to protect our planet’s precious biodiversity, forever. One square metre at a time.

Moments like this are only possible, thanks to you.
