Introducing the man, the myth, the legend!
We’re beyond excited to announce that Guy Williams is teaming up with Wilderlands to help launch our new nature division dedicated to developing protection projects to meet the specific needs of large enterprise partners.
Over the past year we’ve seen a growing demand for at-scale, bespoke projects providing opportunity for co-investment alongside major partners to maximise impact, whilst reducing the risk of backing biodiversity projects alone.
In the months to come Guy will be meeting with leaders from large corporations, nationally and internationally, to launch a new pilot providing the opportunity for a handful of select companies to invest in a suite of projects spread across the country.

With over 20 years working at the forefront of biodiversity and natural capital innovation, there are few people on the planet as qualified to develop this new solution as Guy.

In recent years, he’s helped develop nature-related frameworks like the TNFD (Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures) and SBTN (Science-Based Targets Network) as well as advising businesses on nature strategy and developing leading reports on biodiversity markets and forecasts in his roles with Deloitte and most recently as Executive Director at Pollination.
We’re beyond excited that Guy has chosen to work with Wilderlands as we prepare to scale to meet the demands of large companies looking to take action today.

Getting to know Guy.

We sat down with Guy to dive deeper into the focus of this new division, why he believes now is the right time to act, and the challenges for companies and opportunities he sees for working together as part of a coalition to tackle nature protection together.
Watch a snapshot of the highlight from the discussion with the full interview released in the weeks to come.
So why would companies explore this new solution?
During the interview Guy delivered insights into the challenges and barriers that can cause companies to believe they’re not ready to act, but also revealed where he’s seeing the motivations and benefits for those who are stepping forward and ensuring the desire for perfection does not get in the way of progress.
We’ve compiled some of our favourite parts of the conversation and captured the sentiment in the quotes below.

Nature doesn’t wait, and neither should businesses.
‘Nature is wonderfully, brilliantly, beautifully complex. But for many, that complexity is a reason for inaction. ‘I don’t know where to start, I don’t know how to measure.’ That’s something we hear a lot.’
‘There’s a perception that the business case isn’t there yet. That acting on nature is a cost rather than an opportunity. We need to change that narrative.’
‘The call to action is simple: don’t let the need for data, frameworks, or assessments get in the way of action. You need to move quickly, and you need to do it in collaboration with others.’
‘Every business is dependent on nature, whether they acknowledge it or not. The question isn’t ‘if’ they should act—it’s ‘when.’ And the answer is now.’
‘This isn’t about one project for one company—it’s about industries, sectors, and communities coming together to build solutions that are practical, scalable, and impactful. Wilderlands is positioned to make that happen.’
‘We talk a lot about risk—businesses are scared of the risks of taking action. But what about the risk of doing nothing? That’s the real existential threat.’
‘Action on climate is part of action on nature. We’ve already built markets around carbon—now it’s time to apply the same momentum to biodiversity.’

‘We invite businesses to be part of something bigger—something that moves beyond talk, beyond frameworks, into real-world solutions that restore and protect nature at scale.’
‘Pretty much every business is nature-negative at the moment. The shift required is not a small adjustment—it’s a fundamental transformation. A minor course correction still leads straight to the iceberg.’
‘We’ve got the ingredients. We’ve got the building blocks. Wilderlands, in partnership with my network, is ready to provide real, on-the-ground solutions—ones that are bespoke to businesses’ needs and create real impact.’
‘We need a coalition of actors—businesses from different sectors working together to create solutions at scale. Wilderlands is here to help companies navigate that, providing the expertise and the opportunities to make a meaningful difference.’
